14/10/2011 - The Institute for Public Policy Research report that a million older people feel lonely and socially isolated.

The IPPR report that almost one in five of those over 75 said they 'felt lonely much of the time during the last week' and more than a million older people said they felt trapped in their own homes. The report emphasises that for home care to be of sufficient quality that the availability of a familiar care worker who can meet the individual needs of those receiving care is essential.
